Heavy Quark Effective Theory at one - loop order : An explicit example

چکیده
We consider correlation functions containing the axial current of one light and one heavy quark in the static approximation as well as in full QCD, using the lattice regularization. Up to one-loop order of perturbation theory, we study the difference between the full and the effective theory in the continuum limit. In the full theory we find a term non-analytic in 1/m, revealing the asymptotic character of the 1/mexpansion. In general, deviations from the m → ∞ limit turn out to be small and are well described by the first non-trivial terms when m is a factor 2-3 above the external scale. We also investigate the mass dependence of discretization errors, and find that the behaviour of the correlation functions at finite lattice spacing differs significantly from that in the continuum limit when the quark mass is large.

An explicit example of HQET at one-loop order of perturbation theory
The axial current of one light and one heavy quark flavour is phenomenologically interesting, as the decay constant fB of the B-meson is defined by a matrix element of such a current. This matrix element requires a non-perturbative treatment, i.e. a lattice calculation. Since the bottom quark is too heavy to be included directly in Monte Carlo simulations on today’s computers, the use of effect...
متن کاملOn the Renormalization of Heavy Quark Effective Field Theory
The construction of heavy quark effective field theory (HqEFT) is extended to arbitrary order in both expansion parameters αs and 1/mq. Matching conditions are discussed for the general case, and it is verified that this approach correctly reproduces the infrared behaviour of full QCD. Choosing a renormalization scheme in the full theory fixes the renormalization scheme in the effective theory ...

Heavy quark induced effective action for gauge fields in the SU (N c) ⊗ U (1) model and the low-energy structure of heavy quark current correlators Abstract We calculate the low-energy limit of heavy quark current correlators within an expansion in the inverse heavy quark mass. The induced low-energy currents built from the gluon fields corresponding to the initial heavy quark currents are obta...
متن کاملOne loop scalar functions in the heavy quark effective theory
Since its early applications [1] the heavy quark symmetry has been one of the key ingredients in the theoretical investigations of hadrons containing a heavy quark. It has been successfully applied to the heavy hadrons spectroscopy, to the inclusive as well as to a number of exclusive decays (for reviews of the heavy quark effective theory and related issues see [2] or [3]). To describe interac...
متن کاملExploring the Invisible Renormalon: Renormalization of the Heavy-Quark Kinetic Energy
Using the virial theorem of the heavy-quark effective theory, we show that the mixing of the operator for the heavy-quark kinetic energy with the identity operator is forbidden at the one-loop order by Lorentz invariance. This explains why such a mixing was not observed in several one-loop calculations using regularization schemes with a Lorentz-invariant UV regulator, and why no UV renormalon ...
